Zuccotti Park / April 22 / 5 PM
Our Labor. Our Earth.
Kick off the Global Climate Convergence and reclaim Earth Day with a mass rally and march in NYC!
Join System Change Not Climate Change, Occupy the Pipeline, the Green Party of New York State, and many others as we rise up in resistance against the global assault on our shared economy, ecology, peace, and democracy.
The march’s location is the Financial District. For many years now, Earth Day has served as little more than an occasion for companies to roll out “greening” initiatives and push “sustainable” products. This year, we are reclaiming Earth Day as a day of popular struggle and participation. And we’re directing our ire at Wall Street—the ultimate source of the social, economic, and environmental crisis we’re in. But this will not be a gloomy occasion! We’ll have puppets, a May pole, lots of revelry, and… plants!
So please invite friends, coworkers, and comrades: http://bit.ly/EDtoMD. And keep up to date with planning for the NYC convergence on our Tumblr: http://convergenyc.tumblr.com/
About the Global Climate Convergence
Linking Earth Day (4/22) to May Day (5/1), the Climate Convergence will bring labor, environmental, and community groups together in a series of actions defending People, Planet, and Peace over Profit. We’re calling for nothing less than a global, emergency green New Deal — a solution as big as the crisis we face — and we know it will take a mass uprising to get us there.
