The study group we all need in our lives on the history and future of the struggle against racism. From Colin Kaepernik to Charlottesville, to Alabama, the centrality of racism and the need for a strategy to fight it remain ever-present questions in Trump’s America. We need to study the history of the Black struggle, because within it are many lessons about the nature of racism in this country and the lengths that the powers that be will go to stoke it. The independent struggle against racism led by ordinary people has been one of the motor forces of change in this brutal country. Let’s revisit those examples and discuss them connected to activism and anti-racism today.
