Capitalism is failing our planet. Our water supply is being contaminated by toxic chemicals from fracking and dumping. Obama looks likely to sign onto the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline which will displace communities, tear into ecosystems and accelerate the effects of global climate change. Wars and occupations continue abroad for controlling the flow of oil. And as Hurricaine Sandy showed when it hit us here, it is always communities of color and the poor that are most affected by ecological destruction.
The ecological crisis continues getting worse, but governments have failed to take action over and over again. This is because taking action would mean taking on corporations and the capitalist system that puts profits over people and our planet. Its up to us to build an alternative!
Join us in discussing environmental justice issues affecting our world today and what it will take to create a fighting chance to save ourselves and reclaim our planet.
