The Bernie Sanders campaign raised hopes for millions across the country, that a progressive candidate could capture the nomination and bring real reform and change to the White House. Yet, as it has happened in the past, the Democratic Party was able to contain the left-wing challenge and nominate a candidate who, for many, represents the pro-business status quo.
Join us for a discussion of some of the prior attempts by progressives and radicals to push the Democratic Party to the left, why those attempts failed, and what it would take to build a movement that could win fundamental changes for economic and racial justice, fight for LGBTQ and women’s right and against militarism and oppression.
