A Fundraiser for Socialism 2015
Wednesday, June 3 @ 7:00PM
It is hard to give a full picture of what is in store for attendees of the annual Socialism Conference in Chicago. We can tell you that there will be a workshop on every topic you’ve ever wanted to know what Socialists have to say about. That there will be guests who are at the center of struggles internationally from Greece, Spain, Egypt and more. That it brings together all the pieces of activism, theory and practice – grounding us for the long term struggle towards revolutionary transformation and clarifying key next steps.
None of this does justice to the experience of being with over 1,000 radicals, revolutionaries and socialists for a whole weekend of politics, debate and partying. It is truly the closest thing we have to glimpsing the vibrant, dynamic, serious Left that we aim to be a part of building.
We want to convince you to join us in Chicago this July. To do this, we are holding a potluck where we screen a talk from a past conference. Please join us this Wednesday June 3rd.
Brain Jones on “Marx and the Civil War”
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, an inspiring revolutionary tale that shows the relationship of the Black struggle to social change. In honor of the legacy of the Civil War, we will be watching a talk from Socialism 2012 called Karl Marx and the Civil War. We hope this can give a picture of what you’ll be in store for if you join the Brooklyn contingent to the conference this summer.
Bring something to eat. We’ll be selling beer and wine to raise funds for those who need financial help getting to Chicago.
