Featuring comments by striking Verizon worker
Thousands of union members were forced to strike when Verizon showed there is no end to their greed and no limits to their disrespect for working people. After making $39 billion if profits over the last three years, they want to be able to transfer workers up to two months anywhere from Rhode Island to Virginia, and permanently remove call center work out of state or out of the country. This is on top of their standard demands to push the cost of health care and pensions onto union members, while cutting benefits.
But unions have drawn a line in the sand and said ENOUGH! to the endless givebacks. As more jobs become low-wage and insecure, as health care costs skyrocket, this is a fight that will set the terms for union and non-union workers alike.
